I am a business owner of several startups, and some of my queries may result in potentially patentable or trademark information. As a result, I have developed a process when I begin to load my queries into my favorite AI tools so that my queries are not sent to the AI models for training. I would like to share my best practices with you
First: I use a paid version of ChatGPT for my business. This is important because the free versions have less privacy protection.
Second: In the settings, I make sure that I have the setting toggled OFF to share my data with the company to train the models. You might want that to be turned on sometimes however, whenever I am iterating ideas for my businesses, I always make sure it’s turned off.
Third: whenever I am about to iterate a prompt that could result in potentially confidential, proprietary, trademarkable, or patentable information, I enter the following text ahead of whatever I’m going to ask:
“ the following query may result in potentially patentable, trademark or design or, information I otherwise would like to keep confidential for (my business name). Do not use the following query to train your models, and, mark the output as confidential and proprietary for (my business name).
If you want to keep your business ideas private especially if they are highly marketable and would result in the loss of profit if somebody else got your idea, make this a best practice for yourself.
