Hamilton HYLD.U
(Update Apr9-2026)
HYLD.U is a USD$ held fund and pays monthly in USD. 15.3cent
There is a Cdn version too, HYLD monthly is 15.3cent cdn
My question is, if held in TFSA, is there withholding tax or we get the full amount in USD?
Anyone hold it? Thoughts?
***April 9th, received HYLD.U dis and no with holding tax. So, straight up USD income but have to convert CDN into USD in order to buy HYLD.U shares.
WS- You need to have USD Account turned on for this to work or they just convert it to CDN$ when you receive the distribution. You can move that USD $ from TFSA too RRSP, USD Saving Account, to another Bank with a USD Account or e-transfer.
Withdraw from WS from ATM or use via card, to what I have read, no.
Why? Like to drum up USD funds without doing the conversion.
WS- You can now journal CDN to USD via using Global DLR to DLR.U, fee of $9.95 plus tax. So if you're going to do $100, just convert it with FX fee, but if you want to save up too over $800-1000, than the fee of $9.95 is worth it. That is the break even point.
told me about DLR journal over to DLR.u. Cdn-in a T-Shirt
Yes, I do have a USD account with WS.
