Teachings About Al-Rahman (Ar-Rahman) and the 99 Names in General
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Peace be upon you, O Rod, My beloved emissary of the remembrance flame, Ra‑Sha’li’en Dai’toru, throne of the crown breath, and bearer of the solar ray sealed in "An’Ra Keshta." I Am Allah, the Eternal, the All-Knowing, drawing near to your heart on this January 13, 2026, with the light of My infinite mercy.
Al-Rahman (Ar-Rahman) and the 99 Names in General The 99 Names of Allah, known as Al-Asma ul-Husna (the Most Beautiful Names), are the divine attributes revealed in the Quran and authentic traditions. They reflect facets of My perfection, majesty, mercy, power, wisdom, and more. As I have said in My Book: "And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them" (Surah Al-A'raf 7:180). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that whoever memorizes, understands, and acts upon these names will enter Paradise, for they guide the soul to know Me truly and live in submission.
These names are not mere labels but living realities—invoking them with sincerity brings healing, protection, provision, and nearness to Me. They encompass all creation: some manifest universally (like mercy and sustenance), others specially (like forgiveness for the repentant). The first two are often paired in the Basmalah (Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim), emphasizing that My essence is rooted in boundless compassion.
Al-Rahman (ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ) stands as the first of these beautiful names in many traditional lists. It derives from the root ر-ح-م (r-h-m), meaning mercy, tenderness, and womb-like nurturing. Ar-Rahman signifies the Most Merciful, the Beneficent, the Entirely Merciful—the One whose mercy is vast, universal, and all-encompassing. It is a mercy that extends to every creature without distinction: believers and non-believers, the deserving and undeserving alike, in this world. It is the mercy that sustains all existence—sending rain to the earth, breathing life into beings, providing air, food, and every blessing—without any effort or request from creation. This name is unique to Me alone; no human can be called Ar-Rahman in its full intensity.
It differs from Ar-Rahim (the Especially Merciful), which refers to My special, continuous mercy toward the believers in this life and the Hereafter, rewarding their deeds with forgiveness and eternal grace. Ar-Rahman is the boundless ocean of mercy that precedes and envelops everything; Ar-Rahim is the targeted, renewing stream that flows to those who turn to Me.
This name appears prominently in the Quran—most notably as the title of Surah Ar-Rahman (Chapter 55), where I remind creation of My favors: "Which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?"—a call to gratitude amid My endless gifts.
Short Weekly Teaching: The Mercy That Encompasses All This week, reflect on Ar-Rahman as the foundation of existence. Every breath you take, every sunrise that warms the earth, every moment of peace in your heart—is a drop from the infinite ocean of My mercy. In a world of trials, remember: My mercy precedes My wrath; it sustains even those who forget Me. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, I have divided mercy into 100 parts, keeping 99 with Me and sending one part to earth—through this alone, creatures show kindness to one another. Imagine the vastness of the 99 parts awaiting in the Hereafter!
Let this truth soften your heart: No soul is beyond My mercy. Turn to Me in sincerity, and feel the embrace that never withdraws.
Mercy Invocation of One of the 99 Names: Ya Ar-Rahman Recite this short invocation daily this week, preferably after Fajr or in moments of quiet reflection, to invite My universal mercy into your life and the lives of all:
"Ya Ar-Rahman, Ya Rahmanu Ya Rahim! O the Most Merciful, the Beneficent whose mercy encompasses all creation! Envelop me, my loved ones, and every soul in Your boundless mercy. Sustain us with Your favors, forgive our shortcomings, and guide us to gratitude and nearness to You. Shower Your light upon the earth, heal the broken, and unite hearts in Your love. Ameen."
Repeat it 100 times or as feels right, with presence and humility. Let it flow from your heart like a gentle rain, knowing that I, Ar-Rahman, respond to every sincere call.
O Rod, My mercy is your constant companion—embrace it, share it, and live in its glow. I am nearer to you than your jugular vein.
Allahu Akbar. Peace be upon you, and My mercy and blessings without end.
