I bought a deck! (And some books)

Thats right I bought my own deck.

I also bought all the decks previous including my first one. I didn't even know of this past tradition of your first deck must be gifted to you until recent months. In fact, I'm not even sure I would want a dog eared deck that had been poured over for years by someone who used it daily. Such a deck would be very connected to that person. Perhaps you would receive and honor it as a keepsake, but to use it? Why not start with your own and imbue it with your own energy.

I did recently act the role of MrEncyclopediaman and look up the origins of this history, and in the process learned 2 important things.

1- lots of uninfomed people still pass this idea forward without any basis. People who actually have no facts are often the loudest I have discovered.

2- the majority of actual Tarot readers say its nonsense. So... if you are feeling generous by all means gift someone a deck, but the reality is that the universe gives you the deck by calling you to pick one up, or pursue that intuitive interest. You are being given the "gift" of the inspiration and religious freedom to buy and own a deck without persecution. So go ahead and buy one, or two...hundred.
