Control can look a lot like love.
“Why are you talking to them?” “Why do you dress like that?” “You should do it this way.” “I just want what’s best for you.” But sometimes, underneath all of this is fear. Fear that if you stop controlling, they might change. Fear that they might leave. Fear that you might lose them. And the more you control someone, the less safe they feel being themselves around you. Real love gives space. It says: “I may not always agree with you, but I trust you.” “I choose you, but I don’t need to own you.” “I want you here because you want to be here.” That kind of freedom can actually create more closeness. Because when someone feels free with you, they can choose you fully. This week, notice where you are trying to control your partner when what they may actually need is trust. Love them without holding them too tightly.

Have you ever noticed how a couple can love each other deeply but still start feeling more like roommates?
You both work. You both handle responsibilities. You both make decisions. You both manage the house, the kids, the money, the schedule… Everything works. But the spark slowly disappears. Sometimes it’s not because something is wrong with the relationship. It’s because you’re both stuck in the same “manager” energy all day. One of you can lead while the other receives. One can bring stillness while the other brings expression. One can create direction while the other brings flow. And yes, every man and woman carries both masculine and feminine energy. The point isn’t to force yourself into a role. It’s to notice when you’ve stopped dancing with each other and started managing each other. Try this tonight: Put the phones away.
