Think and Grow Rich
In the renowned book 'Think and grow rich' by Napoleon Hill (1937) there is a discussion about desire (i.e your dream in life) and how to fully commit (and hence guarantee yourself your desire) you have to 'destroy your means of escape'. The example given is that an army had their ships burnt on arrival so that they would not escape and live unless they won the war (all in).
Maybe it's ignorance or naivety but I feel as though if I had less I would be more aggressive at finding/obtaining my desires. I've worked hard for my career, I make wicked money, wicked team to work with, and great work-life balance... But is this enough to be happy and satisfied in the years to come? I imagine a lot of people have this confliction... what are your thoughts on the security of comfort versus the risk of committing to desire?
