Taking time off from YouTube
On average, the pace of YouTube seems to be a video a week. It can be an exhausting process– the second you finally post your video, it's time to start prepping the next one. I found the momentum extremely important to stay consistent, but I had a vacation coming up, and I didn't want to miss a week.
It's a classic problem many folks run into. So my options were skip a week, or plan ahead. Fortunately, I had the time to make two videos the week before my trip, and schedule the second one to publish while I was on my break.
But sometimes life happens, and I won't be able to prep the week before. So I came up with a new system.
Caveat: You really need to be posting at least a video a week to pull this off.
Every other week, I'll film TWO videos, but only post ONE. Overtime, I'll accumulate some videos to post, and use it the same way I use "sick days" or "vacation days" at my job. Jobs account for other stuff happening in our lives, why shouldn't I do the same for YouTube?
It's not the most original idea in the world, but I think doing extra work when I can, will help me out on weeks when I can't do the expected level of work.
Has anyone tried something similar or have other ways they're able to take breaks from YouTube?
