Start here: your first 30 days
Welcome to Surplus Funds Secrets — a community run by people who recover surplus funds every day. This isn't a motivation feed. It's a working recovery business running in public, and a place to build your own.
Your first 30 days, in order:
- Classroom → Foundations 1: Where surplus funds come from. Five short lessons — the mechanism, who's entitled, why the money sits unclaimed. Start here before anything else.
- Classroom → Foundations 2: Anatomy of a live FCAR file. One real file walked end to end: find, verify, trace, contact, close. This is what the work actually looks like.
- Introduce yourself below. Where you're starting from, and which state you'd work first.
- Pick one or two counties and find their surplus list. Search "[county] excess proceeds list" with site:.gov, or go straight to the clerk / tax collector site. Don't scale yet — learn one county's layout cold.
- Post your first list pull in the feed. What you found, what confused you. Feedback here is real — process wins get spotlighted, cheerleading doesn't.
Level up by showing up. Posting and engaging earns levels. At level 5, the claim-readiness checklist unlocks in the classroom — the verification gates and the full document set a real claim needs.
