Two weeks ago, I did a poll on LinkedIn where I asked the question..  “What do you think is the most effective approach to securing a job right now?”
92% of people responded saying networking & Referrals I wasn’t surprised by these results as most jobs are filled through referrals. Before the next job opens, you already have a connection with the company you want to apply to. Take these actions: * Follow your Target Companies & their Leadership Teams including Recruiters * Comment on the posts from the company and the leadership team regularly. * Make Connections Follow and engage the content of employees at your target company, especially the 2nd-degree connections. - After a week, send a connection request—(Sunday night). - Send a quick message on Monday (or when it’s accepted), something like “Hey, thanks for connecting. I’m interested in XYZ company— according to my research and from what I hear it looks like a great place to work! How do you like it?” or "What's made you continue to work there for X (number) of years? - If they respond, immediately reply with a voice message of “Hey, I’d love to chat for 10 minutes about your experience at XYZ company and the culture there!” - When they reply (or after two days), send a follow-up text DM, “I’m free next week on XXX at ___am or XXX at ___pm. Would one of those work?” Better yet, create a free Calendly account and share your calendar link with them directly so they can pick a time for the call. **It's okay to follow up, you aren't bothering them!** Now that you have an internal connection and they are willing to attach their name to your application, use their referral to apply to that job! Referrals are people who vouch for you when they refer you, they represent you. The more you build relationships and trust with them, the higher chances are they will refer you to the job or even share your resume internally. Have you had luck with referrals? Let me know in the comments below!
