Pitching: What Makes Someone Want to Read Your Script?
The writers who get script requests understand something important: they know how to communicate the hook and major selling points of their story.
When managers request scripts, it’s usually because the writer presented:
  • A clear concept
  • A compelling hook
  • An intriguing angle that made them think, “I can sell this.”
Before you send your script into the world, ask yourself:
  • What makes someone want to make this project?
  • What makes someone want to watch this story?
Managers need to know they can sell the writer and the script. Producers need to see a project they can develop and produce. Studios and streamers need stories that will draw audiences. If you can clearly communicate the hook, stakes, and appeal of your story, your chances of getting reads — and opportunities — increase dramatically. Clarity sells the story. — Mel
