2. Dramatically Increases Your Average Tip & Check
Top-earning servers don’t just “have great personalities.” They use specific language that:
• Builds instant rapport
• Guides guests toward higher-priced items naturally
• Creates emotional connection (which turns one-time guests into regulars)
Example script snippet for suggesting wine: Bad (common): “Would you like anything to drink from the bar?” Good (scripted): “We just opened a beautiful California Cabernet that’s pairing incredibly with the ribeye tonight. Would you like me to pour you a taste so you can see if it’s a fit?”
The second version assumes the sale, adds value, and sounds helpful instead of pushy.
