Save as much equity as possible at the beginning of a startup
🚨Disclaimer : This is not a expert advice, this is completely my personal opinion.
As a startup founder I feel like I need to save a s much as equity as possible at the beginning of my startup, and I am thinking this can be advantageous for several reasons.
First, and I believe the most important, more equity helps to maintain control of the company, vision, and culture as much as we can.
Additionally, more equity motivates me and my co-founders to work hard, as we stand to gain significantly from the company’s success.
If we have more equity, it allows us to offer generous employee incentives, stock options, and equity incentives to attract and retain top talent.
In addition to that, I strongly beleive, having more equity makes the startup more attractive to future investors and helps us raise funds at a higher valuation later, and minimizing dilution.
This is what I think, what do you think? Please let know comments down below...
📝 Side note: I keep hearing more and more people expressing concerns about job security as AI and automation may replace them. It has been almost 6 years (GPT-1 was released in June 2018) since we started using Generative AI tools. Take a look at the AI generated clipart I attached! AI cannot spell "equity" correctly, but my 6 years old nephew can! So, we are all safe! As least for awhile 😜
