Just had a great experience that shows how far I've come in my Spanish journey. Figured I'd share here... I have a magnolia tree at the side of my yard that every spring grows super tall and wide over the deck of a neighbor. And every year he complains about the tree. I try and trim it myself but it always looks terrible. Last year, one day I heard the neighbor's landscapers out in his yard doing some work and tried to ask them to trim the tree for me to help me out. They only spoke Spanish, and I couldn't communicate with them well enough and just went home with my tail between my legs. It is time to trim the tree again, and this morning I heard them out there and went out again. This time I was able to ask for help, describe what I wanted to do with the tree, negotiate the price, and schedule it for next week, all in Spanish! We're all battling to move forward, and some days are harder than others. But as long as we're putting in the time, the progess is real!
