New Report: Natural Gas Shortages in Europe
I've just uploaded a new report to the Classroom section in 6.2, under "Energy Commodities".
It is about Europe's natural gas storage situation and the risks from colder winter forecasts.
Europe's natural gas system is facing serious risks this winter 2025-2026, particularly in Germany.
Weather forecasts predict temperatures will be about 4°C colder than originally expected, which means people will use more gas for heating and power plants will burn more gas for electricity.
Germany is entering winter with gas storage tanks only three-quarters full instead of nearly full like in previous years. If the winter turns out to be colder and longer than normal, computer models show Germany could use up most of its stored gas well before winter ends.
The report also mentions policy recommendations to prevent a gas crisis
