Here’s what NOT to do…
These are a daily occurrence in my DMs…
❌ she spent no time in my profile learning about me or adding value
❌ she didn’t even bother to make a friend request
❌ and worse? If she had done a bit of research, she would have realized that this type of spammy, cold outreach is the antithesis of what I stand for, value and teach (and if this is how she’s approaching me, you can bet it’s how she would lead generate for me if I hired her.)
Hard no.
And if we show up in DMs like this, we put the awkward work onto the prospects shoulders…
Now, here’s my thought process as the one on the receiving end:
Do I ignore? (I don’t want to be rude, after all)
Do I educate her? (Is it worth my time?)
Do I even engage? (Is it rude NOT too even though she showed up uninvited in my DM?)
THIS is what our people are thinking… and none of these question bode well for us as leaders.
Do better. Add value. Take the time to research.
And make content so good, your prospects come to you ❤️
