Just did a speed run that still blows my mind. I created a dance animation for a friend of mine who has a game character I built for her, named Kauni, in under 60 minutes using AI and it's going viral on YouTube. Instead of the usual spike and flat plateau, views are going straight up. Not a rough draft. Not a storyboard. A usable clip I can iterate on right away. Here is the wild part... When I did this the traditional CG way, this is what the pipeline looks like: Traditional CG animation pipeline with approximate time 1. Concept and character design: 2 to 8 hours 2. Modeling or sculpting: 1 to 3 days 3. Retopo and UVs: 4 to 12 hours 4. Texturing and materials: 1 to 2 days 5. Rigging and skin weights: 1 to 3 days 6. Facial rig or blendshapes: 1 to 4 days 7. Animation blocking and polish: 2 to 7 days 8. Cloth and hair sims if needed: 4 hours to 2 days 9. Environment modeling or set dressing: 1 to 5 days 10. Lighting setup: 2 to 8 hours 11. Rendering passes and render time: 4 hours to multiple days 12. Compositing: 2 to 8 hours 13. Color grade: 1 to 3 hours 14. Post edits and export: 1 to 4 hours Note: The third image shows the before/after of the game character converted to 3d animated character without AI. Traditional total (solo creator): Fast path: roughly 8 to 12 days Typical path: roughly 3 to 5 weeks Polished path with sims and revisions: 6 to 10 weeks This is why AI animation feels like a cheat code right now! AI animation pipeline I used: 1. Generate a consistent character image: 5 to 15 minutes 2. Generate the dance motion: 5 to 20 minutes 3. Add subtle camera movement and scene realism: 5 to 15 minutes 4. Export and iterate: 2 to 10 minutes AI total Fast path: 15 to 25 minutes Typical path: 25 to 45 minutes With extra iterations: 45 to 90 minutes The big shift is not just speed... It is creative momentum! When you can go from idea to motion in minutes, you stop overthinking and start testing. You can try 10 variations in a day instead of protecting 1 version you spent a week on.
