💗 PUBLIC vs PRIVATE community - what you got?
Public vs Private community? Here is my take. @Brenda Rigney asked me to make this post which was originally a comment. I waited a few days cuz I had a pinned post and didn’t wanted to be too much in your face lol So here is what I do: I went public over 6 months ago. Never going back to private! We have a preferred visibility on ALL search engines including AI because of that. It’s good for our community and good for our members. We also have Monday Tribe Market day every Monday where our Tribers can advertise pretty much everything and the stuff is getting found way beyond Skool!!! I personally have quite a few examples for proving this via affiliates that come outside of Skool! Yes, I know. It’s 🤯 With that said, it really depends on the intention for community. There is no right or wrong, just right for YOU. If you want your community to stay super small, intimate, not fast growing but with some intimate shares - stay private. I said “some” cuz even when is private and small, most people won’t share…. There are communities w touchy subjects and understandably the owner wants them more private…. If I had a community like this, I’d create an environment for those shares. Whatever that might be that works best for the members. MAYBE locked calls for VIP only classroom. “Best” for the member, not for the owner (what she/he thinks is best or convenient). When we went public - I asked, we voted. When we rebranded - I asked, we voted. When I locked chat at levels 5 then 6 as we grew and I noticed slippage - I asked, we voted…. A community is NOT a social media profile, it’s a co creation environment where you don’t “know it all”. And you have to stay open…. With that said, I outgrew many of my own mentors super fast… now them asking me for an advice on this or that…. Cuz I never stop learning, always open to improving and most def not knowing it all. I outgrew them not because I am oh so smart… but open and learning and def not a know it all (like some of them) 😅🚀
