A New Skool Discovery Is Coming!
Just heard from the Skool owners that they're working on a new upgrade to the Discovery feature.
TL;DR -- Skool is rebuilding Discovery around better search, smarter rankings, stronger categorization, and more accurate tracking so good communities can grow faster from inside the platform itself.
➡️Right now, about 30% of members already come from the Skool network itself, and they found that Discovery gets around 1 million visits per day, with most of that traffic coming from search (within Discovery area, not to be confused with google search).
What’s changing with Skool's Discovery
1. Search is being improved first
Search is currently one of the biggest weak points, and Skool plans to improve it starting in April. Owners will also be able to set up to 11 keywords for their group so the platform can better match communities to searches.
2. Discovery rankings are changing
Skool wants Discovery to feel more alive, so they plan to make Trending the default homepage instead of relying so heavily on one static rank. They are also reworking the main ranking system so it reflects community quality more accurately, not just engagement volume. This is expected around May.
3. Categories will be updated
They believe the current categories are too limited and no longer reflect what is actually happening on the platform. More categories are likely coming, but these changes will wait until after the end of Q2 Skool Games so they do not disrupt the competition.
4. Discovery will become more visible
They want more people browsing and searching inside Skool, so Discovery will be surfaced more clearly across the platform. Better visibility plus better search is meant to drive more members to more communities.
5. Attribution is getting more accurate
Traffic source tracking will improve, especially around reducing vague “direct” traffic and improving attribution tied to links and affiliates. That work is expected in May.
✅ What this means for YOU as a Skool Group Owner
The big takeaway is this: Skool wants quality groups to get a stronger built-in growth tailwind, so owners can spend more time building a strong community and less time constantly pushing external content. They are not saying outside promotion goes away, but they do want the platform itself to do more of the heavy lifting.
✅ What to do NOW or very soon....as a Skool Owner
Start focusing on:
  • Keyword clarity, meaning what terms your ideal members would actually search for
  • About page strength, since search visibility only helps if people click and convert
  • Community quality, because future ranking will reward stronger groups, not just noisy ones
  • Traffic tracking, so you can see what is working as attribution improves
