Hey Everyone,
I'm calling this a win. I have been really really working on cultivating the skill of confidence. It's so hard for me. But I put all of my imagination and pretending and power poses into it and I drafted new language for my website. It feels sales-y but I don't feel (too) bad about it. I'm adding it incase any wants to read it but really I just wanted to share that it feels like I have a win.

I created Mind-Body, BirthTM because I was heartbroken and I was angry. That is a powerful combination.
I had learned the science that showed me we’ve all been lied to. We don’t have to just accept that childbirth is awful. It can be better. It’s supposed to be better.
I had discovered that people were out there giving birth without all the information and they were blaming themselves—For years, for lifetimes—For things there were not their fault. But no one told them what was really going on.
I had witnessed so much judgement and divide and shoulding that birth became somehow both tribalist and completely isolating.
Everyone I talked to was so so sad, so alone, so full of guilt and so full of fear, all while pretending they were in the happiest moment of their life.
And I said, “No.” We aren’t doing this anymore. There will be a better way. A way to Birth. Better.
So I created Mind-Body, Birth. A holistic approach that truly shows you how fearless birth is possible while supporting you to ensure it is achievable. And we will do it all in a way that is honest, fun, and funny.
Here’s an example: I’ll be honest. Epidurals are not my first choice. Not because I think epidurals make you lazy, too weak-willed, or whatever other bullshit someone on the internet said that made people feel bad about themselves. It’s because people often aren’t given all the information. Which is that often—but not always—epidurals slow down birth. They can slow birth down so much that people are then encouraged to get a dose of Pitocin. Pitocin speeds birth back up, but frequently in a way that causes overwhelmingly, debilitatingly painful contractions. So they get more epidural medication, which slows birth back down. Now there is a need for more Pitocin, which causes the pain to spike, so we increase the epidural. And around and around it goes until the baby goes into distress and there is an emergency which requires a c-section. This happens often. But did anyone explain that to you? I’ll bet all the bees in my bee hive no one did. It shouldn’t be that way. You deserve all the information to make the best decision for you. If you read that and thought, “I still want the epidural.” Great! Go for it! Because it was truly your decision. That’s what I want for you. Informed decision-making that you feel supported in.
An early review on Mind-Body, Birth said it was like sitting down for tea and cookies with an old friend (read the review here). And that means a lot to me. Because whether you read the book, take the course, work one-on-one with me, or just follow my stuff on SM, we are in this together.
This is the mind-body, birth way. Giving you the information you need to make the best possible decision for you in this moment, without judgement, and supporting you if that decision changes. Because you are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to make decisions other people don’t agree with. You’re allowed to make decisions you wouldn’t have made at another point in your life. You are allowed to feel however you feel about birth. It’s all real, and true and valid. And it is all okay.
At the end of Mind-Body, Birth:
1) You will feel confident in yourself and your body. If you don’t believe that joyful, wonderful birth is possible for you, you will.
2) You will have honest information. I will not hide any of it, not even the scary stuff. Because you are strong. You are smart. And you can handle all of it. Even though sometimes it feels like you can’t. Those moments are okay too.
3) You will be ready. With your completed birth toolkit, you will be fully prepared. This isn’t some “here you go, push push push, you’re a parent” class. This is deep, holistic preparation where you become your own guide. Because you are the only person who knows what it feels like to be in your body. You know what you need. And you absolutely can take charge fearlessly.
If you are ready to go from “birth will be the worst pain I can possibly experience and I have to just let it happen to me,” to “I can have a joyful, amazing, powerful birth experience that I feel good about,” then you have come to the right place.
