I made this as my final major assignment for my Advanced Diploma of Screen at Footscray City College. Solitude was loosely based on my experience running into an old schoolmate in Footscray while I was living there completing my diploma. It was actually quite sad. He had always been very popular when we were in Secondary School, but time had caught up with him, and he was busking near Footscray train station to support a Heroin habit. My facilitators at Footscray City College never understood this film and dismissed it because they thought that film about "Junkies" had been done too often, but I still feel this is my best film thus far. I attempted to purchase rights to the music so I could screen it at festivals, but no one responded to my emails. It uses the song "Solitude" an obscure Black Sabbath track from the Masters of Reality album. Believe it or not, that's Ozzy Osbourne on vocals.
