As part of Concussion Awareness Month - Did you know? 🧠
Most parents significantly overestimate how common concussions actually are in youth sport. Research (Project Play, 2025) found 83% of parents overestimate youth football concussion rates compared to what CDC data actually shows.
That gap matters, not because the risk isn't real (it is, and it's worth taking seriously), but because when fear runs ahead of the facts, it gets harder to make clear-headed decisions in the moment a head knock actually happens.
The goal this month isn't to make you more worried. It's the opposite: knowing what's actually going on gives you back the confidence to act calmly and correctly if it ever comes up, rather than panicking or, just as risky, brushing it off.
What's one thing about concussion in youth sport you assumed was true, until you looked into it? Drop it below — we'll dig into a few of these in an upcoming post.
