Rock sized hail
And a better day.
It is currently hailing, and I don't remember the last time it hailed here.
I am sitting in the parent pickup line, and it begins to hail.
Usually, the kids are released all at once, and then it is a mad dash to the car, bikes, etc.
But not today.
Today, a brave teacher will go car to car, asking for the names of the kids we will pick up.
I am happy and grateful that I can be at the front of the line to pick my kids up.
It was something my parents weren't able to do.
As I (think) I mentioned yesterday, my mom worked two jobs, and my dad worked the third shift, so they could not pick us up.
This resulted in me going to afterschool care in elementary, walking home in middle school, and riding the city bus in high school.
I, on the other hand, sit at the front of the line to be the first to pick them up every day.
This is what freedom is.
The ability to be where I want, when I want.
The ability to sit in the parent pick up line hour and a half before the kids are let out.
The ability to be the head coach for my son's basketball team.
(today is basketball tryouts, and I am going to be one of the coaches)
Anyway, today is a better day than yesterday for various reasons.
