2) Coaching Role
Currently, coach 6th & 3rd Grade bball for a County Winter league. I am evaluating coaching AAU in Spring 2024.
Previously in my 20's coached AAU/Flag, 30’s coached 10 years of CrossFit (Level 2), 40’s coaching youth sports. Taken 3 youth flag football teams to UA Nationals. Was reluctant to coach basketball with kids so young but I watched AAU scenes and practices past 3 years and wanted to teach a better foundation. Working on my 50’s plan (in my 40's) now and developing BU 3v3 for 2024 (3v3 leagues, Skills/Drills, Experiences) with a regional focus in DMV area as well as develop a facility
USA Basketball Cert, PGC Camp BI, and part of PGC Coaching group, Positive Coaches Alliance
Professionally, I run a space technology portfolio for a large company.
3) Athlete
The athlete I’ll be coaching is Max/12 and Trey/12. The goal is to get through the whole team by Feb but start with 1 for the Cohort and trey a a backup
4) What I hope to gain
Grow and evolve. I was a scorer and shooter back in the day (155% 1/2/3 in college) and did a ton of Andy Enfield camps for years. However, I have had 8 surgeries over the past 10 years, my elbow doesn't bend, and my shoulder is jacked so I'm trying to retrain myself but my top desire is to get better at smaller, quicker, focused improvements coaching others. I feel frustrated that I personally can't demonstrate what I know so that is also a focus in 2024 as well
From a coaching perspective, I can see and feel what’s not exactly desirable but I do not have the knowledge and skills to take the next step to evolve improvement and confidence in sufficient and logical flow for youth and adults seeking to improve
I've been coaching athletes and leading adults for a long time. Active in College and High School mentor programs and professional mentor to a few dozen folks. Leadership and Teaching are a core to who I am and grateful for those who have helped me. As I look at the next 10 years it's clear youth/teen development is a natural transition out of the corporate world and starting to build a regionally focused brand around sports-specific needs and Fitness/Mental health by developing those habits earlier in life. Shooting confidence is a foundation of basketball and met Cassie at PGC Camp when I was an OC and was impressed with her leadership. Through socials found BriAnna and here I am
