The 5 Prompting Mistakes That Are Killing Your AI Outputs ⚠️
After hundreds of hours building with AI, I’ve seen the same mistakes over and over. Here are the top 5 and how to fix them:
MISTAKE 1: Being too vague. Bad: "Build me a website." Good: "Build me a single-page landing page for a dog grooming business in Portland, OR. Include a hero section with a headline, a services section with 4 cards, a testimonials section, and a contact form. Use a clean, modern design with blue and white colors."
MISTAKE 2: Not giving context about who you are. Always tell the AI what your role is and what you’re trying to accomplish. "I’m a non-technical entrepreneur building my first SaaS product. I need help creating..." changes the response completely.
MISTAKE 3: Asking for everything at once. Break your project into phases. Build the foundation first, then add features one at a time. This gives you better results and makes debugging way easier.
MISTAKE 4: Not iterating. Your first output is a draft, not a final product. Review, give feedback, and ask for improvements. "This is great, but can you make the header sticky and add a mobile hamburger menu?" is how real builds get polished.
MISTAKE 5: Ignoring the AI’s questions. When the AI asks for clarification, that’s a sign your prompt was missing critical info. Answer thoroughly — it’s investing in better output.
Save this post. Come back to it before every build. These five fixes will 10x your results. 💪
