Here's the trap.
You can buy your way to faster hands.
You cannot buy your way to better customers.
I've watched polishers drop four grand on gear and stay broke, because the machine doesn't find the jobs, price the jobs, or close the jobs. Equipment is downstream of demand. Demand is upstream of everything.
So the $40 problem: where your next 5 customers come from. Most polishers answer "word of mouth" and call it a marketing plan. It's not it's a hope.
Here's the system that replaces hope, and it costs nothing:
1. Google Business Profile. Free. Load it with before/after photos. Most local polishers don't have one. You rank for "[your city] aluminum polishing" by default.
2. The 20-truck rule. List every business near you with metal that gets seen: trucking yards, detail shops, marinas, farms, dealerships, body shops. Twenty of them. That's a week of outreach.
3. The two-line cold email/text. "Saw your [trucks/tanks/boats] on [street]. I polish metal, here's a before/after from last month. Want a free quote on one unit to prove it?" Low risk for them, easy yes, and one "sure" turns into a fleet.
Gear doesn't get you paid. Lead flow does.
Buy the buffer after the customers show up.
