I asked Claude Code to build me a Markdown editor, and it took less than 10 minutes
Claude writes a lot of my plans, notes and drafts as Markdown (.md) files. In Notepad they are full of # and ** symbols, and I don't like reading them in VS Code either. I wanted to see the formatted page straight away, like Google Docs.
So I asked Claude Code to build me an editor and reader. In under 10 minutes I had a white page with a toolbar, where the text formats as I type. I then asked it to turn that into a Windows program and set it as the default for .md files. Now I double-click a Markdown file and it opens looking like a document. I can write and save my own files too.
That is a micro-app: one small tool for one job. If you want the prompts to build your own, they are on my blog, along with the steps to make it your default on Windows:
