AI Smart Analyzer - Major Scoring Update
We've completely redesigned the scoring system in the AI Smart Analyzer to give you more accurate and actionable product grades. Here's what changed:
New Scoring System: ROI + Velocity
The analyzer now uses a simplified two-component scoring system:
ROI Score (60 points max)
Measures profitability based on your return on investment. 30%+ ROI gets you into solid territory, and 70%+ ROI is considered excellent.
Velocity Score (40 points max)
Measures how likely the product is to actually sell. Based on sales rank, bought in past month, rank trends, and drops activity. Important: Velocity is now capped based on variant reviews (see below).
Smarter Velocity Scoring
Here's a key insight: Sales rank and drops data apply to the entire parent listing, not the specific variant you're looking at. A parent listing could have 50 variations, but only 5 of them actually sell well.
The analyzer now caps velocity scores based on variant-specific review evidence:
0 variant reviews: Max 10 velocity points (unproven)
1-4 variant reviews: Max 18 velocity points
5-9 variant reviews: Max 25 velocity points
10-24 variant reviews: Max 32 velocity points
25+ variant reviews: Full velocity scoring
This prevents products from getting inflated scores just because they're on a hot parent listing.
Bonus Points (Stack on top of base score)
Products can earn bonus points that push scores above 100:
Exceptional ROI (50%+ ROI): +4 to +10 points
Amazon Not On Listing: +10 points
No Competition (0 offers): +10 points
Low Competition (1 offer): +5 points
Amazon OOS 30%+ of time: +4 to +10 points
New Variant Gem: +5 to +10 points
Hidden Gem (OOS adjusted): +4 to +10 points
Updated Grade Scale
We've adjusted the grade thresholds to better reflect product quality:
Grade A: 90+ (Excellent - Top picks)
Grade B: 75-89 (Good - Solid opportunities)
Grade C: 60-74 (Average - Consider carefully)
Grade D: 45-59 (Below Average - Proceed with caution)
Grade F: Below 45 (Poor - Not recommended)
Additionally, any product with 30%+ ROI and at least $3 profit automatically gets a minimum score of 60 (Grade C floor).
What This Means For You
Grades are more meaningful - an A grade now requires both good profitability AND some velocity evidence. Unproven variants won't fool you with inflated scores. Zero-competition opportunities are highlighted with bonus points. The scoring reflects real-world buying decisions better.
