🎯 LESSON 1: HOW TO READ YOUR CREDIT REPORT LIKE A SNIPER
(The foundation of everything you’ll learn in Score Snipers Academy)
Most people look at their credit report and feel overwhelmed.A sniper?A sniper looks at it and sees targets.
Today, I’m going to teach you how to read your report the SAME way I do — with precision, calm, and control.
This lesson alone will put you ahead of 90% of people trying to fix their credit.
Let’s get into it.🎯📄
🧠 STEP 1 — Understand the 3 BIG SECTIONS of Your Report
Your report is broken into 3 main areas:
1️⃣ Personal Information
- Names
- Addresses
- Employers
- Phone numbers
Sniper Tip:Multiple or incorrect addresses can cause verification problems. One wrong address can connect you to accounts that ain’t even yours.
2️⃣ Negative Accounts (the targets)
This includes:
- Collections
- Charge-offs
- Late payments
- Repossessions
- Closed accounts with balance
This is the section we hunt in.
3️⃣ Inquiries
Soft (safe)Hard (score dropping)
Sniper rule:Too many hard pulls = you look desperate to lenders = denied.
🔥 STEP 2 — Learn What Makes an Account Inaccurate
To be legally reported on your credit, ANY account must be:
✔ 100% accurate
✔ 100% complete
✔ 100% verifiable
If ANYTHING is wrong?
It’s a target.
Your job is NOT to prove you don’t owe it —their job is to prove the information is accurate.
🎯 STEP 3 — The 6 Sniper Checks (Use These on Every Negative Item)
When you look at a negative account, check for these:
🔍 1. Date of First Delinquency
This controls when the item should fall off.
If it’s wrong?Target.
🗂 2. Ownership
Does the collector actually OWN the debt? Most don’t.
If ownership is missing?Target.
💰 3. Balance Accuracy
Wrong balanceDifferent numbers on each bureauFees added illegally
If the money doesn’t match?Target.
📅 4. Account Dates
Check:
- Date opened
- Last update
- Last payment
- Status date
One mismatch =Target.
🧾 5. Metro 2 Formatting
Does the data follow the formatting rules bureaus require?
Most collectors fail this.
If the coding is wrong?Target.
🛑 6. FCRA Accuracy
Under sections §609 and §611, if ANY detail is incomplete or unverifiable…
You guessed it —Target.
🧨 STEP 4 — What NOT to Do (New Students Mess This Up)
❌ Don’t dispute everything at once
You want strategy, not chaos.
❌ Don’t say “Not mine” to everything
That triggers stall tactics.
❌ Don’t dispute online
Online = you waive rights.
❌ Don’t stop checking your reports
Credit is always updating.
🚀 STEP 5 — Your First Homework Assignment
📝 HOMEWORK: The Sniper Audit
Open your report and do this:
1. Go to Personal Information:
•Delete old addresses
•Delete old name variations
•Delete old jobs
This cleans your “target map.”
2. Go to Negative Accounts
For each item, write down:
•Date of first delinquency
•Balance
•Dates
•Ownership
•Any inconsistencies
•Which bureaus it’s on
3. Go to Inquiries
•Highlight unauthorized ones
•Highlight duplicates
•Highlight auto/loan shopping clusters
When you’re done, you’ll have your first mission map — the exact list we’ll attack in future lessons.
