When the whole body grows, your individual muscles grow too..
I definitely don’t shy away from isolation exercises for aesthetics, but I also want to highlight a concept that so many people muddy the waters with..
And it’s the whole-body approach to gaining muscle mass and size (VS going solely the isolation approach)
While hypertrophy DOES happen with isolation movements, what’s not always credited for promoting hypertrophy is full body movements (I’m referring to anything where most, if not all, of your body is involved in some capacity.. not just your biceps, chest or quads..)
This theory supports the fact that when your WHOLE BODY grows in its capacity to move heavier loads, your individual muscles will grow too (as long as you are consuming a diet that supports that, of course).
If you are on a FLO Training Academy program, you know that we utilize a lot of full-body movements/training sessions (regardless of which program you are doing).
There is a reason for that.
And of course, we sprinkle in the fun accessory lifts from time to time.
But I wanted to post this to challenge you all to think differently about your weight-training than the traditional gym-rat.
We are here to train to become functional athletes.. TRUE athleticism is developed from learning how to move your entire body, not just your biceps, chest, and quads!
Thats all.. cheers legends,
Dr. C
PS I've been working on a brand new app that is going to change the game for our community.. we will officially own our own platform 👀 it goes live end of summer. Keep getting after it on our current app, but when the time comes, I will make the announcement for our entire community to make the switch. Stay posted fam, we are taking over 👊
