Appreciation is much more than just a polite gesture. It feels good being appreciated. It also feels good showing appreciation to others. But there’s even more to it. Appreciation benefits every community member. Because it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well. We take pride for someone else being appreciated. We're proud of them. That's why I think that Appreciation is one of the best ways to create ownership in a community. Here’s how to use Appreciation in practice 🙏 Short-term: 🔔 Mention someone in a post. 🗨️ Write comments showing your Appreciation. Long-term: ⚙️ Create a system or environment for showing Appreciation in your community. The Appreciation should be: 🎯 Specific; 🤝 Unselfish; 👀 Coming from a place of specific observation. Don’t say what’s not true. Shoutout to @Aeon Bancuyo who does it really well by showing appreciation to the top 10 members in his community weekly. It is specific, and coming from real observation. 🎖️ A perfect example of a systematic approach! ❗ If you want to do a simple action: When creating a post for your community, at the end mention a person who does it well.
