Seeking Guidance as a Complete Beginner
Hi everyone,
My name is Arslan Iqbal, and I'm 41 years old. I work in an industrial engineering company and currently earn around Rs. 250,000 per month.
Over the past few weeks, I've watched many of Sarmaaya's YouTube videos and genuinely appreciate the effort your team is making to improve financial literacy and help people build long-term wealth.
A little about me:
  • I have already opened my CDC Investor Account through SFEL.
  • I can consistently invest Rs. 75,000 every month.
  • I come from a non-financial background, so investing, financial statements, charts, and technical analysis are all new to me.
  • I can dedicate 45–60 minutes every day to learning.
My goal is to build long-term wealth and eventually achieve financial independence. I'm not looking for shortcuts or stock tips. Instead, I'm looking for structured learning, mentorship, and the right mindset to become a disciplined investor.
I'd really appreciate guidance from the Sarmaaya team and experienced members:
  1. As a complete beginner, where should I start?
  2. Should I focus on long-term investing first, or should I learn trading alongside it?
  3. Is Investment Mastery the right program for someone with my background and goals?
  4. What mistakes should I avoid during my first year of investing?
I'd be grateful for any advice or experiences you can share.
Thank you!
Arslan Iqbal
