The reckoning
When I first came to the desert, I thought I was arriving somewhere exotic.
New light. New landscape. A clean beginning.
I didn’t know I was arriving at a reckoning.
The desert doesn’t nurture the way forests do.
It strips.
It exposes.
It watches how long you pretend.
Out here, nothing is hidden. Not your thirst. Not your fear. Not your hunger for belonging. The sun does not care who you were before. The land does not ask for your résumé. It asks only one question:
Can you survive the truth of yourself?
