Passion and charisma are overrated
[ROAST MY LESSON]
2 common excuses that keeps people from starting their own businesses are:
  • But I'm not charismatic enough
  • But I'm not passionate about that, I'm still trying to find my passion.
Truth is, most businesses start not because someone was passioante about something. Instead they saw an opportunity on a problem and worked for the solution instead of just complaining about it.
And a lot of people are not passionate about solving a specific problem. More often than not, the eagerness to solve it comes from anger and frustration, not passion.
Now on charisma. I found out recently that you don't need TV host levels of charisma to have an online presence, to be good at sales, or to have people trust you.
I stutter a lot, have a few speach impedments and have some insecurities about that. But somehow I landed a leadership position at a multinational company that involves doing a lot of presentations and trainings. And I was selected by phone calls where I didn't show my face because my notebook camera was not working. So they only had my voice and the things I said to choose me.
So you don't need to be passionate about what you do. And you don't need to be charismatic. All you need to buld a business is the eagerness to solve a problem that will make people pay you.
