How to take control of your life when you have a 9-5 you hate and bad habits
Bad habits, are the reason why you are so stuck. It's temporarily medicating unprocessed stress/other emotions. Low sleep quality because of most, means low REM (responsible for emotional processing) -> less processed emotions, more emotional reactivity, even higher stress. Higher stress levels means more likelihood of doing more of the same bad habits to re regulate. Furthering the cycle.
The solution:
Forget a side hustle right now, you needs to worry about the habits first, because it's really heavily affecting you day to day without you realising because there's a snowball effect involved. So to make it clear, you are far from weak, just lack alot of nervous system regulation and has no system to re regulate.
Step 1:
MUST accept that these habits are bad for you. That's a non negotiable.
Find a activity that's healthy that de stresses, breath work, walks, sauna, cold shower etc etc
Go habit by habit, you must pick which one habit makes you feel the worst about your life and has a negative on you mentally.
Must also pick up a good habit to compensate for the dopamine vacuum her basal ganglia (habit storage area in brain) will be experiencing because she no longer does that habit.
Step 2:
Direction, spend spare time into tapping back into what you previously enjoyed, or going on new experiences to learn more about yourself.
Step 3:
Do more hard things
"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek"
This is where a sense of self is found, when you know who you are -> you know what you love -> when you know what you love -> find direction.
Step 4:
Start the side hustle based on what you love
You're a work horse in a stressful environment, but emotionally it's objectively unhealthy. You now needs to realise your capability in a field of work that you love, imagine how amazing you'll be when you spend your time on that.
That thing you love you might not know yet, but it also might be right under your nose. A lack of self belief is what convinces people they can't do what they love.
Step 5:
Meta cognition: thinking about your thoughts
Thoughts cause our actions, if we change our thoughts and beliefs, are behaviour changes as a byproduct
You need to practise questioning what you say to yourself on a daily basis.
Are you being kind to you?
If not
Why?
Confront it, challenge it, call your brain on its bullshit
Then replace with positive feedback
These steps are relatively in the right order
