The Mother Vine
I’m a middle school science teacher. As you all know we don’t make a lot of money, especially living in Jersey.
I always wondered why I ended up becoming a teacher. I came to this country at 21 yo without speaking a single word of English and somehow I managed to become a teacher.
This thought has crossed my mind many times: “You know what? Even though I don’t make a lot of money I’m home at 3:30pm every day for my kids. I’m home when it’s a holiday, I’m home during the summer so they can sleep in, go to the beach, the pool, or just hang out in town.”
I’m literally crying when I read telling her mom how much she missed her because she wasn’t around.. 😭😭 It just validated that even though I don’t make a lot of money for material things I gave my kids the most important thing: their mom being around all the time for them.
