Hi all! I wanted to share a story with this community that happened this week, especially since we've been talking about the significance and meaning with animal encounters 💖
Yesterday morning, I let my dog out in the backyard and she immediately started barking nonstop. After a minute or so, I walk outside to see what's happening and there's a crow sitting under my next door neighbor's trampoline. My neighbor's dog comes over and starts trying to sniff and bark at the crow, getting right in its face.. and the crow doesn't move an inch.
My neighbor leashes up her dog and makes a comment that the wildlife rescue center doesn't open for at least another hour and walks to bring her dog inside. She sort of mumbles how she doesn't really want to deal with it. As she walks off, I feel a deep sadness that she seems to care more about the inconvenience than the animal suffering before her. As she walked off, the crow appeared to be shivering - i have no idea if they don't this but it reminded me of how other animals shake to discharge fear sometimes.
I can't stop observing this crow or leave it alone. I pop inside to grab my blanket and sit near the crow on my side of the fence, keeping enough distance to distract my dogs from paying attention to it. The crow is still, seeming to be scanning the area around it without moving its head much.
I remembered that crows tend to travel together and take care of each other.. but there's no other crows around. At that moment I also realized I don't think I've seen crows around my house before. I started to feel an inner polarity forming.. my intuition telling me that if it's not moving, it really needs help while another part of me wondering if it can heal on its own. The fact that I wasn't seeing any other crows at this point confirmed to me it would be best to bring it to the center. I also did a quick search and found a story of a woman who said she found an injured crow but couldn't catch it and even the wildlife center near her couldn't either. This made me think - if I can't get it in a box, it's doesn't need the help.
I pop inside to grab a box from my basement and as soon as i come out, my neighbor is outside with her own box and a blanket. She makes air holes in my box while I try to wrap my head around grabbing a wild animal. I've never encountered an injured animal before (that I remember) so I'm starting to feel a little intimidated by it. The crow had moved ever so slightly further under the trampoline at this point. The idea trying to get it in a box while also crawling under the trampoline wasn't great at first. Thankfully crawling under the trampoline caused the crow to ever so slowly move out from under the it.
After a few failed attempts (by my own fear and insecurity), I successfully got the crow in the box. As soon as it was in, it didn't move or try to leave. We just slowly closed the flaps and taped the top.
The car ride felt long to me. By this point i had skipped breakfast and my nervous system was feeling the intensity combined with hunger. I put on solfreggio frequencies (which helped me as well). Every so often I heard it moving around and would speak to reassure it we would be there soon.
The drop off process was smooth and simple. They wanted some information, to know what I observed, and then sent me on my way.. it sort of felt weird to just leave and walk off but I understood why.
I feel I'm still unraveling the significance of this and wanted to share. 💗
Ps. I wrote this without editing! Big win for me to not feel the need for things to be perfect. Thanks for allowing me to be vulnerable and share 🥰
