“What response best reflects the kind of person or professional I want to be?”
In social work, mental health, leadership, families, and communities, we will not always agree with everyone we work alongside. Personalities may clash, emotions may rise, and conflict may occur. In those moments, grounding ourselves in principles like empathy, dignity, integrity, accountability, and respect can help guide our responses.
This does not mean ignoring boundaries or harmful behavior. It means choosing to respond from our values rather than from ego, frustration, or personal bias.
