How Phones Are Rewiring Teen Brains
Dopamine isn’t the enemy—it’s the habit loop that matters.
Every scroll, like, and notification gives the teen brain a hit of dopamine. That’s not inherently bad. What’s harmful is when dopamine becomes tied to external validation—not purpose, play, or real connection.
🔁 This creates a loop of:
  • Craving feedback
  • Needing constant stimulation
  • Struggling to focus without it
💡 Self-leadership starts with awareness.
Start by asking your teen:
👉 “What do you feel before you reach for your phone?”
👉 “What are you hoping to get from it?”
When they can name the need, they can choose how to meet it more consciously.
