Reset by Dan Heath - June Book Club
Hi everyone, Somehow it's June already, and weโ€™re starting with the first few chapters of RESET. One quote thatโ€™s mentioned in Dan's intro video from Paul Batalden (not the bookโ€™s author, but worth checking out if you donโ€™t know him): โ€œEvery system is perfectly designed to get the results it gets.โ€ A simple idea, but itโ€™s got me thinking! Have you noticed things in your team, organisation, or life that feel stuck in a loop? What might be keeping them that way? Here are a few questions to mull over: - How does that quote land for you? Do you agree, or does it feel a bit off? - Have you ever felt trapped in a โ€œbad equilibriumโ€ like the hospital receiving area? - Whatโ€™s a problem you need to get closer to? - Whatโ€™s the โ€œboulderโ€ in your life or work youโ€™d love to shift? Any levers or nudges that might help? Even if youโ€™re short on time to read, Dan Heath has made a handy intro video and thereโ€™s an infographic too โ€“ so no excuses not to join the conversation. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Share your thoughts below or bring an example to our next discussion! Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers, Paul

Thank you and hello!
Hey everyone Iโ€™m Paul, and Iโ€™m excited to be joining you here at Read2Rise. As Christopher said in his video Iโ€™m stepping in to help lead the book club and newsletter, and I wanted to properly introduce myself. A little about me; By day, I head up Learning & Development for a heritage organisation in the UK, supporting over a thousand colleagues across three estates. Iโ€™ve spent the last 20+ years working in leadership development, coaching, training, and creating learning programmes. I also do a little guest lecturing at my local University. Learning is my passion. Not just the formal stuff, but the kind that happens when we reflect, ask better questions, and try things out in the real world. Thatโ€™s why I love what this club is all about. Books. Action. Growth. Not just reading to say weโ€™ve read something, but reading to become better versions of ourselves, more focused, thoughtful, courageous. Over the next few weeks, Iโ€™ll be sharing a bit more about whatโ€™s coming including some new tools, prompts, and discussions to help you turn insights into action. But first, Iโ€™d love to get to know you. (And if you ever want to chat, share ideas, or ask questions, my DMs are always open.) I'm also going to be curating the Read2Rise newsletter so if you haven't subscribed already you can do so here. What am I reading right now? ๐Ÿ“š One of my recent favourites is Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg - packed with practical insights on how to have better conversations and genuinely connect. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Whatโ€™s a book thatโ€™s genuinely changed how you think, work, or live? Drop it below. I'm always on the lookout for new titles and fresh perspectives. Looking forward to learning alongside you. Paul

June Book Club Announcement
Hi there folks, Itโ€™s been a bit quiet in the club lately, so I thought weโ€™d take the hintโ€ฆ and hit reset. Literally. ๐Ÿ“š Book of the Month: Reset: How to Change Whatโ€™s Not Working by Dan Heath* June can be a reflective month halfway through the year, a natural point to pause and shift gears. This book is all about finding small, smart changes that unlock better outcomes. Itโ€™s practical, relatable, and full of great stories from drive-thru redesigns to overhauling unhelpful habits. Perfect for anyone whoโ€™s feeling stuck, or just ready for something new. What to expect this month: - Weekly questions to spark thinking and conversation (starting this week) - Bonus tools and resources you can use beyond the book like self-coaching prompts and a recap guide - A new direction for the club more than just book chat, weโ€™re building a space for learning, growth, and real conversations This weekโ€™s question to get us started: ๐Ÿ‘‰ Whatโ€™s one small thing in your life or work you know needs to change but youโ€™ve been putting it off? Feel free to answer in the group or just reflect privately. Iโ€™ll be sharing mine too. Thanks for being here even if youโ€™ve been quiet for a while. Youโ€™re always welcome to pick things back up at your own pace. See you in the group, Paul *(affiliate link)
