Samhain - The witches new year ✨️

🕯️ Samhain: The Witch’s New Year 🕯️
(Pronounced “Sow-in”)
As the wheel of the year turns, Samhain marks the ancient Celtic festival that celebrates the end of the harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year. It falls on October 31st to November 1st, halfway between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice.
🌾 History & Meaning:
Long before Halloween, Samhain was celebrated by the Celts across Ireland, Scotland, and parts of Europe. It was believed that on this night, the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead grows thin, allowing spirits and ancestors to visit.
🔥 Traditional Practices:
Bonfires were lit to ward off negative spirits and bring protection for the coming winter.
Offerings of food and drink were left outside to honour ancestors and the spirits of the land.
People wore disguises or masks to blend in with wandering spirits — a tradition that later evolved into modern Halloween costumes!
🌙 Modern Witchy Ways to Celebrate:
🕯️ Light a candle to honour your ancestors or loved ones who have passed.
🍎 Prepare a feast of seasonal foods — apples, pumpkins, nuts, and bread.
🔮 Perform a protection or reflection ritual, setting intentions for the winter months.
🌿 Craft a Samhain altar with autumn leaves, crystals like obsidian or smoky quartz, and photos of your ancestors.
✨ Witchy Wisdom:
Samhain isn’t a time of fear — it’s a time of respect, reflection, and renewal. The darkness teaches us to rest, release, and trust that the light will return again. 🌑➡️🌞
Blessed be beautiful souls
