Podcast for people interested in Politics and Economics
I've created a podcast (The European Angle - A deep dive into European politics and economics) with a friend about economics and politics. If you're interested in these topics, check out our first episode: https://youtu.be/Y7m8wPsz1zM?si=1MEUgEDEOX287FC4
For our first episode, we had the privilege to speak to Stefanie Walter, Professor for International Relations at the University of Zurich. Here are some of the questions this episode addresses:
- Is there a lack of unity in Europe or the European Union, especially now that the EU can't necessarily count on the United States for (military) help?
- Will the relationship between Europe and the U.S. get better once Trump's term has ended?
- Should Europe strive towards self-sufficiency, and would that require a more united Europe?
- Why would European democracies struggle to switch to a wartime economy, and how does Russia's political structure allow it / make it easier for it to begin weaponized conflicts? Is it true to all democracies that they are less likely to start wars, and are periods of conflict also periods of transition from democracy to authoritarian state?
- Do EU treaties and policies need to be adapted to ensure that the EU doesn't become incapable of making decisions if Ukraine is invited to be part of the EU?
