How to be smart
Have you ever seen those people on podcasts who seem to have completely figured out life?
I mean, they can be asked to answer the deepest questions. Like, questions that have different answers for each individual, yet somehow, by the end of their speech, it's like they somehow found the true answer to that question and it is so good that pretty much everyone regardless of their background agrees with them.
But how? How can they be so smart?
Here's the thing, These people aren't necessarily geniuses. They don't know all the mysteries of the world but what they do know is how to speak with influence. These people have completely mastered the art of speaking. The good news is, that you can copy them.
Every art has certain rules, and that includes the art of speaking. When you observe these people closely, you'll notice certain common characteristics. These are the keys to understanding how to talk with impact and influence. Here are a few characteristics I've observed,
  1. Speak slowly: These people don't always know the answer to everything. However, their lack of knowledge is often not visible due to maintaining a slow pace throughout their speech, making it hard to tell which parts they think about and which parts are their normal speech.
2. Structure as you go: when speaking a lot of us like to structure our whole speech first and then start talking but that's quite unconventional as it takes more time to start that way or some people don't structure their speech at all, they try to make up the next word when they reach the one before that but this is also not the best idea cause, you might end up using a lot of filler words or end up talking gibberish but these people, they think in points. They always think the next point, when talking about carrots, they say, "Carrot is a delicious vegetable" and think (color: orange) and then they say, "It's orange in color..... "
3. Engage with stories: Influential speakers often use personal anecdotes or relatable stories to illustrate their points. This not only makes their message more memorable but also helps the audience connect on a personal level. When they share experiences, it feels less like a lecture and more like a conversation.
4. Use pauses effectively: They use pauses to emphasize key points, allowing their words to sink in. A well-timed pause can create suspense, give the audience a moment to reflect, or prepare them for something important. It also gives the speaker a chance to collect their thoughts, making the delivery smoother and more impactful.
5. Vary your tone and volume: Monotone delivery can quickly lose an audience's attention. Skilled speakers know how to modulate their voice, varying tone, and volume to convey emotions and keep listeners engaged. They might lower their voice to draw people in during a critical moment or raise it to express excitement or urgency.
These are just a few examples of what I've observed, there's a lot more for me to learn, let me know what common characteristics you can find.
