Help with science fair

I’m planning on doing science fair for the first time this year, I’ve done solo projects on my own but not too large. I’m wondering how hard it is to make isef and if I should do it with a group or by my self and such. I’m more of a math or physics guy and was wondering if it’s hard to make it in those topics and stuff. I’m also based in texas so like is tsef really competitive. I’m also wondering if I should get a professor mentor or do it independent/only with group.
