Difference in Questions of PSAT and SAT

Hey I know what is the PSAT and SAT but I don’t know what the difference in questions they have. Should I study the PSAT separately or just keep studying the SAT and once the PSAT comes then just lock in? I took a PSAT practice test on Bluebook and it wasn’t the score I was aiming for. I was confused as well since the questions are different than the SAT’s(especially the math section). Is there any tips on improving my PSAT score for National Merit?
