A Story of Platypuses
Hey everyone, been a while. I’ll put it blatantly. I want to jumpstart this community. It’s been too long since I’ve actively participated in this community and I’m done standing on the sidelines. But, we’ll get back to that by the end of this story.
Platypus. They’re weird creatures, right? Mammals that lay eggs. Their body looks like a beaver—aside from their bill. And this bill, this crazy body part, has an electro-sensory system to help the platypus forage in the water. But their webbed feet are safe, right? Nope, males have venom in their back claws. And do you know what the craziest part is, platypus have another trait that I didn’t learn about until earlier this month. Platypus glow in the dark. Well, kind of. Platypus glow a shade of green under UV light. So, with so many weird features in one animal, why is it one of my favorites? Well, because at this point, I see myself in the platypus to an extent.
At this point in high school, I need to be like a platypus. One system capable of evolving and handling any issues around me. My “bill” lets my manage my homework, clubs and other activities so that way everything gets done on time. My “eggs” make sure that I continue to move forward and advance. My “fur” offers warmth in cold and dark time. My “flippers” help me fight against the tide of work and troubles. My “venom” gives me a tool for defense and to stand up for myself in the face of the world. That’s why I love platypuses. They adapted into such a strange yet intricate and well designed form that leads to their survival, not their down fall.
Rishab Academy needs to learn from the platypus. This community has too many things going on. From random bursts of unique ideas, test prep help, start up non profits, school assistance, and an influx of business ads, Rishab Academy is too diverse without understanding the purpose. More importantly than having a purpose, we lack direction. It’s been over 2 and half months since Rishab’s last message in this community. We all came here because of him, yet he hasn’t been here for so long. So what can we do? What we must. This community exists because we are in it. We might have been brought here by Rishab, but we can all still push forward and make this a community to remember. The community celebrates its one year anniversary of forming in just a few weeks. I hope that the community can last until then and even longer into the future. I’m calling on you, all of you here reading this to contribute something. Comment something. Discuss something. Do something. Be something. Channel your inner platypus and show yourself what you are made of. Thank you for reading. I can’t guarantee that this will change anything, but I can hope that it starts something. I’ll try and write something in this community every week. Will it be impactful? Maybe? Hopefully. All that we need is a community there to read and interact with.
(Also, nothing against you personally Rishab. I mean no ad hominem. I get it, you’re busy with being a college student. But, it would be nice if this community didn’t get entirely abandoned. Also, can we do something about all of those business accounts. They aren’t adding anything and just taking up unnecessary space.)
Anyway, thanks for reading. Have a good day, weekend, morning, noon, and/or night.
