Father’s Day Reflection: Lessons from The Lion King
Last night, I watched The Lion King live on stage. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, something about seeing Mufasa’s death live hit differently.
Watching Simba lose his father, and then try to navigate the world alone, reminded me of the powerful imprint a father leaves—not just in his presence, but in his absence.
Mufasa wasn’t just a king. He was a compass. A pillar of strength, wisdom, and love. Even after he was gone, his words, his spirit, and his example continued to guide Simba.
That’s the role of a great father—not to control the path, but to prepare his child for it.
On this Father's Day, I’m reminded that true leadership as a father isn’t about being perfect… it's about being present. It's about living in a way that even when you're gone, your values echo in the hearts of those you’ve led.
Happy Father's Day!
