This is the breeding ground for the Mafias
There are famous memes like “Team you build is the company you build” or “it’s the people stupid” that you might come across when starting to think about building a team. And they are so true. Imagine a workplace where everyone is so nice to you, it’s much harder to quit even if nobody understands what you are trying to do. No matter what the upper management might be using to motivate the employees, the team is the most sophisticated resource that a company can use to attract or repel people from outside to work. But that’s not all people striving for the same mission won’t need to go through the companies’ mottos, their bonds will be naturally tighter, they will understand each other’s motivations.
Yes, a heavy paycheck is an amazing encouragement, so are stock options and if I can find gym in the office then I would be a regular. But what’s so special about that if you hate going to work. I would argue that excitement to go to work is as good as success. If a small startup promised me excitement to work for something that I am passionate about like putting AI in robots, creating systems on a blockchain, or solving cancer I would choose that over any fat paycheck from those boring fortune 500s. We have a system where we submit boring ass copy paste resumes to boring ass carbon copy job profiles. No one seems to be excited to work at a company they are applying to. We have a need to get hired asap, which is good but it neither guarantees success nor excitement and has a very high chance that you will get eaten by boring ass mediocrity. It’s much better to begin the journey and fail than to never have begun.
Another thing you want from your team is relationships, if its just “hey how are you” then 8 hours of mind-numbing work and then “see you next time” you have a very weak network, and your network is not even going to help you in your next endeavor. Working alongside passionate individuals who are committed to building, learning, and evolving creates strong, meaningful relationships. These connections can yield lasting benefits, even years after you’ve all pursued different paths.
And lastly you want to work with beautiful wholesome humans, polite and kind ones. The ones who are continuously learning and getting better and pushing you to be better. You do not want to work with robots or become one. If the company’s morale is down then nothing can save it, but if it’s fueled by passion no recession can take it down. Companies don’t die when they run out of cash; they die when founders run out of energy.
Sometimes we must have an irrational level of belief in something which conflicts with people from outside and we need other crackheads like us to say that “you are on the right side”. This almost cult-like attitude keeps you going, but unlike a cult you hope to be correct and prove everyone wrong.
If right now, you are thinking "man how do I find founding members for my micro-cult", search not more you have landed on the right place, we are building the Ideological incubator for those cults.
