Heirs of God, Viceroys of Heaven
Introduction
What is the essential identity of people who have surrendered to King Jesus of Nazareth, those who trust and obey Him? The overall story of the Bible is of God, the Supreme Spiritual Being, and His desire to create and love on people. He wanted a huge family that would spread throughout the whole Earth and rule over it as His viceroys. He created Eden to be a place of overlap between the heavenly realm (God space) where He reigned and the chaotic earthly realm where He formed Humanity. He wanted people to be heirs of God, viceroys of Heaven.
Two Creation Stories
The ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, and Egyptians had their own stories of how the Earth came to be, why humans were created, and why bad things happened. The ancient Hebrews told the story of the Supreme Spiritual Being who created the heavenly and earthly realms. At first, the Earth was a chaotic watery abyss, empty and waste without light.
Over the first three days, the Creator separated the chaos into light from darkness, the waters above and below the sky, and the land from the seas. He covered the land with a jungle of vegetation.
Over the next three days, the Creator made inhabitants for these realms. He made the sun, moon, and starry host to rule from the heavenlies. He created birds and other flying creatures to inhabit the sky between the upper and lower waters. He caused the oceans to teem with fish, sea creatures, and sea monsters (Laviathan). The land He stocked with wild animals, livestock, and creepy- crawlies.
Finally, the Creator formed the dual- gender Humanity from the dust of the ground and breathed His breath/ wind/ Spirit (Ruach) into them. He told the human to spread throughout the rest of the Earth and to bring order into it. Humanity was made to rule over all the earthly creatures. In effect, all of Humanity are children of God and His viceroys on the earth.
The second creation story depicts God placing the human in a mountaintop country of delight (Eden) in a garden where all needs were met. He split the human into man and woman and provided them with all the food they needed. They were supremely healthy. There was no need for protection against wild animals or other people. They had no flaws to hide. They were naked and unashamed.
Disbelief and Disobedience
One spiritual being, later identified as Hallel (Lucifer), became prideful and made himself the Enemy (ha satan) of God and Humanity. He persuaded the humans to believe and obey him instead of the Supreme Spiritual Being. This put them under his domination (Romans 6:16). The Creator cut off Humanity from the benefits of Eden.
The humans tried to stay together in the city of Babylon. They built a ziggurat to the heavens in order to obtain the benefits of Eden again. The Creator confused their languages and they scattered throughout the Earth as He intended. The Supreme Spiritual Being placed the different ethnic groups (nations, Gentiles) under the rule of members of the host of heaven. He kept the children of Israel for Himself (Deuteronomy 32:8-9, RSV).
Yahweh worked with His chosen individuals (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob) to father His specially chosen people, the Israelites. He made a treaty with them to be their King. He gave them wise instructions (torah) on how to live well with Him and each other. He lived in their midst in a special tent constructed for His dwelling place (Tabernacle).
Being humans under the rule of the Enemy, they rebelled against Yahweh's reign over and over. They gave their allegiance to the spiritual rulers of the nations around them. They abused and killed each other.
The Creator finally sent His Ruach (breath/ wind/ Spirit) to a loyal teen virgin in Israel. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son who was God with us. She called Him Rescuer (Joshua/ Yeshua/ Iesous/ Jesus). Born without the gene for rebellion, He completely trusted and obeyed what He learned in the Torah, Prophets, and Psalms and what the Spirit told Him.
Completely innocent of rebellion, He offered up His life as an Intercessor and Redeemer for all of Humanity. The rulers over the peoples illegally killed this innocent Man and forfeited the right to continue in that rule. Jesus thus conquered the Enemy of Heaven and Earth. All the Enemy's minions lost their rulership to Him. He could say to His delegated earthly leaders, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." (Matthew 28:18)
Heirs and Viceroys
Men and women, boys and girls were still members of the Creator's family and His viceroys on earth, even while in rebellion against Him. However, now we can "reign in life through the one man Jesus" (Romans 5:17). As His governing assemblies (ecclesia, not church) in society, we can declare the King's decrees and work to spread His effective reign throughout the Earth. Before we're done, a New Earth will cover the land "as the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:9)" God's people will again live in a new Eden where all things are provided, everyone is in vigorous health, there is no need for protection, and people's flaws do not need to be covered. Everyone can again be naked and unashamed.

The writer of Acts recorded in Chapter 7 Stephen's summary of the works of Abraham, Moses,David, and the building of Solomon's Temple. In the same way, I have summarized the overall narrative of the Bible. I plan to write a course for Tier 2 members to explain in more detail all the strange ideas I have expressed.
That will start with a lesson on reading scripture with the same mentality of the ancient Israelites who first told and recorded the Bible stories. Essentially, these stories are genius pieces of literature that speak Truth about the Creator and His Kingdom. They are not the records of scientific or historical facts that modern readers try to make them be.
In addition, I want to push the avoidance of religious, churchy language in favor of words and phrases better understood by people on the street. More on that later.
