Why didn't Marcus Aurelius write about Hadrian in his Meditations?
Hadrian is the emperor who recognized the promise in young Marcus and set about the succession plan that had Marcus ascend to the throne. Yet when Marcus is giving thanks to everyone in the first book of his Meditations, Hadrian is conspicuously absent. Why do you think that is?
He only learned how not to be from Hadrian
He died before he finished his Meditations
He was mad at him for being forced to become emperor
He just slipped his mind as Hadrian died when Marcus was in his teens
