You may remember when I told you about my passion project, The Tree of Life. It is a large structure created to gather solar, wind, and motion energy, as well as to gather and purify its own water. The outside shell is designed to look like a tree with a passive solar southern side and an observation nest at the top (approx. 30 ft). The inside is a spiral design using 4 shipping containers standing upright together as a square. The tree structure is built around and supported by the shipping containers.
I’m currently in Southern Arizona looking for a place to be for an extended period of time while I build a scale model of this and put together a real plan, including a place to build it. I was hoping for Bombay Beach due to the conditions of the shrinking sea and the closeness of the community, but when I was there last week the vibe did not feel right to me. I drove through Marfa, Texas on the way here, and it felt really special—so special that I could not stop. I made the detour to see the Marfa Prada, which is actually about 40 minutes from Marfa in Valentine. The whole area was artistic from the moment you pull in all along. I thought if I stopped I would end up staying. If I can figure it out, it might be just the right place to build this sculpture.
I’m trying to find some house sits but no luck yet. So, I’m throwing out a rope here. Does anyone have room for this lady and her dog? Some sort of work exchange or art exchange would be ideal. I want to avoid the cold as much as possible, so in the lower half, and I do always feel drawn to water so that’s also ideal. I am a bit of a Jill of all trades. I am quiet, organized, and respectful.
Aside from that, if you want to collaborate on this project please reach out. I’m just one girl, they tell me.
